Cactus Fence

Any one who has driven around the hill country of Texas very much, has seen fences made of cedar pickets wired together to form a fence. They used to be popular for corrals and cattle working pens as they were cheap, cedar was plentiful and live stock couldn't see through it. Not being able to see through it, they weren't as likely to jump. In more recent times, it is used more as nostalgic looking fences for entrances as well as yard fences. This one is my neighbors down the road a bit.
While we were in Tucson I noticed several fences made like the cedar picket fences but they were made using ocotillo limbs.. I saw them both as live stock fences and ornamental fences. Seems only reasonable to make do with what you have on hand. This one is the boundary fence for a park in eastern Tucson.
