I had a post recently about taking pictures of the kids in the Bluebonnets. There was a picture of a family with the kiddos in the bonnets. I mentioned how careful these people were in not harming the bonnets. Here are some updated pictures of the exact same spot. WARNING, these pictures are graphic and may cause sickening of the stomach.
It looks almost as if someone purposely was trying to destroy all the Bluebonnets on these slopes. How some people can destroy such beauty just to take their picture in the very beauty they are stomping into the ground. I am totally disgusted by this. Here is the previous picture.
This in itself should be a crime. But if you accept the assumption that life is "all about me", I suppose the destruction makes sense. We all need to be good stewards of the earth
ReplyDeleteSo sad that most people have a "Me First" attitude and don't stop and think of others... much less about the earth and plant life.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog...
ReplyDeleteIn the DFW area, they used to have areas along some of the highways with police officers who would guide children down mowed paths for bluebonnet pics, especially around Mothers day. The paths led to a small spot, usually between two 'hills' that the kids could sit and it looked like they were surrounded by the flowers. I haven't seen it for a while though.
There also were signs saying that picking the things could result in fines.
Sickening indeed. I put out a line on FB asking folks for suggestions as to where to get good blubonnet pics and one of the people who responded had let her kids pick handfuls for...gorgeous photos... I was stunned that a school teacher wouldn't know better...
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in Colorado, there was some law against picking columbines unless they were on your property. But as I said, they also never really grew in droves, it was much more of a thing where you'd be walking along in the mountains and you might see one or two total. Not that I'm advocating that anyone go and pick any flower that isn't on their own personal property in any way shape or form.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I find out the results of the test sometime after the middle of June...so maybe I'll know if I passed the PE by July 4th.
WTH? Did someone spray roundup or what? Degenerates.
